Netbus Protection
Netbus Protection
I've come across quite a few netbus detectors/protectors recently. I'm going to start a list here of what's out there, and If I've tried it, what I think of it. :) I think the best protection is NukeNabber. So, Ill start off with it.
NukeNabber
Good old NukeNabber, which tells you when someone tries to attack you. Just set it up to listen on any port you like, and it will tell you who's attacking you (for netbus, its port 12345). This is usefull because you can set it up so it listens on other ports, ie for other trojan attacks (like port 31337 which is BO). The only pitfall is that if someone does connect to you, you dont get to see what they are trying to do to you.
NetBuster
One of the most know 'protections', it has more use as a Cleaner. The probelm with netbuster is that it is subject to DoS attacks. Poor coding makes it vaunerable to two types of attacks, Neither will make you shut down Windows, but they *will* take out netbuster.
Netbus Detective
Does the same job as netbuster, more empahsis on cleaning. I havent tried this particular one very much, and I am not sure if it is subject to the same sort of attacks that Netbuster is.
BusJack
This is from the same people as AntiGen, the BO cleaner. I am sure this does its job well, but It has one feature which I am totally against. After removal of Netbus It then gives you the option to annonmously email 'cf' The author of Netbus a nasty letter. I dont think that is a fair thing to do even if he did write the program... I have been in contact with someone who is in contact with him, The reason why Netbus Pro 2.0's release date has been pushed back is because 'cf' is working on making it less of a trojan, and more of a remote admin tool. If you want to email the author, you do it properly, and dont be annonmous.
Tambu Dummy Server
A Nice little toy which is easy to use, and configurable to any port you wish. It doesnt have anything fancy, and doesnt log everything. It does not remove the Netbus trojan if it is active.
The Cleaner
This will detect and clean lots of trojans. I used to like it, but now I think it has became Shareware/Trialware. So it runs out of use quickly. It picked up a few trojans I didnt know I had thought :))
NetBus DeINFECT v1.1
This is by the owner of #netbus AMnet. It works well. :)) I just removes Netbus, no other listening techniques, Its small in size, which works to its advantage. The only downfall is that it requires a dll file that might not be on all computers. (and it isnt distributed with the dll)
