#Chit_Chat is one of many channels on the Austnet IRC network that offer a friendly environment for discussion on any topic. The channel has been in action since June 1997, and has always been run by Scapegoat, which is my nickname on the Austnet. We are not a overly large channel, nowhere near the size of #Chatzone or #Funfactory, but we believe we have a much better chatting environment than those channels which have up to 200 chatters.
If you hang around #Chit_Chat a lot you will most likely see that there are a select group of chatters, including Scapegoat, Jediz, Cassie, Madcow, DJCol, Dustii, and others, that pop in almost every day. We have about forty registered channel operators, but there are never any more than about ten in the channel at the one time. We are always encouraging new chatters and even new operators, so please pop in sometime and say hi!
As far as rules for #Chit_Chat are concerned, we don't really have a lot. We simply ask that users do not flood, repeat, or harass other chatters. We have had these simple three rules since the channel opened, and we very rarely have any incidents along those lines. Being the owner, director, and manager of the channel, I have complete control over the channel and its rules. Jediz and Cassie have almost as much control as me and are great friends of mine, so if you have any problems see one of us.
